Indigo Children

Introduction

An indigo child is a term used within the New Age movement to refer to children who are alleged to possess paranormal attributes such as the ability to read minds.

The Indigo child concept was first publicized in the 1982 book "Understanding Your Life Through Color”, by Nancy Ann Tappe.  Tappe, a self-proclaimed synesthete and psychic, says she has the ability to see people's auras, and began noticing in the late 70's that many children were being born with "indigo" auras.  Today, she estimates that 97 percent of children under ten and 70 percent of that age 15 to 25 are "Indigo”.

The idea of Indigo children was popularized by the 1999 book The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, written by the husband-and-wife team of Lee Carroll and Jan Tober.  Carroll insists that the concept was obtained via conversations with a "Master angelic energy" he calls Kryon.  Tober has said that she and Carroll do not talk much about Kyron in interviews about their Indigo children books, because "the Indigo book is aimed at the mainstream public."

Beliefs

The Indigo child movement believes that the children in question are born with an empathic connection to Earth and others' thoughts.  However, due to natural limits in infant communication, Indigo children's supposed abilities (empathy, telepathy, extra-sensory perception and extra-normal perception) are suppressed by negative parental or societal influence.  The Indigo child movement therefore encourages parents to support those children in whom can be seen traits which are often labeled as negative by mainstream authorities but as positive by the Indigo child.

Adherents believe that this new type of child has come forward for a reason; most often suggested is that they will improve the world in some way.  The changes generally discussed involve bringing peace, toppling corrupt institutions, and a shift from allopathic medicine to a greater understanding of more natural alternatives.  Indigo children are said by proponents to be more in touch with something called the "Universal Truth”, and do not tolerate or understand behaviors or systems that are not in harmony with it.

Indigo children are sometimes said to possess an extreme longevity but the given birth dates do not corroborate this claim.

Characteristics

Carroll and Tober identify ten attributes that they believe describe Indigo children:

  1. They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it).
  2. They have a feeling of "deserving to be here”, and are surprised when others do not share that.
  3. Self-worth is not a big issue; they often tell the parents "who they are”.
  4. They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
  5. They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
  6. They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and do not require creative thought.
  7. They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (non-conforming to any system).
  8. They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind.  If there are no others of like consciousness around him or her, they often turn inward; feeling like no other human understands them.  School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
  9. They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
  10. They are not shy in letting it be known what they need.

One of the main reasons why Indigo children find it difficult to accept rules is because they have very recently and very quickly, re-incarnated from a Highly Evolved Race, making them an HEB (Higher Evolved Being).  I have been made aware that two of the races they have evolved from are the Sirius and Pleiades solar systems.

So you see, as they are used to living within these cultures, where there is not the necessity for laws, they have got used to being more closely linked to the the spirit realm, without any doubt like some of us and knowing that we are all connected.  Therefore any 'wrongs' done to others we do to ourselves.  They have a lot to teach us but we must also realise how to bring them up, without 'smothering' them with our primitive beliefs and helping them to get used to this earthly existance with the best of our abilities and at times we might be very sadly lacking in these talents.

These Indigo and Crystal children are a generation that we have never seen before and they have special needs, gifts and talents.  The Crystal and Indigo children represent the new, higher energetic patterns that are arriving to change the Earth's vibrational frequency.  These new notes provide information on these children and the wonderful gifts they bring to the world.  Along with their special gifts and talents, they also have certain needs and the purpose of these notes are to help them and their parents find solutions to these needs so that Indigos and Crystals can do the work that they came here to do.

Angel Sitting is not a term that I came up with, it was said to me by the mother of an Indigo who was talking about the difficulties that she had with her son.  But it describes our roles, as parents, family, friends and mentors, of the Indigo and Crystal children.  We have been given these children to watch over because we can see beyond their behaviour, their differences and even problems and issues and see the wonderful souls that they are.  We also have the spiritual knowledge to give them as they make their way through their childhood.  While they may not appear to be listening, they do hear what we say and in their own way and their own time, they will find their spiritual path and remember what we told them.  It is our job to be angels for the Indigos and Crystals, to 'angel sit' for them and to watch out for and take care of them.  But we do not have to do this by ourselves, as there are other people who are there to help us.

Over the years, my daughter has had several people who stepped in to angel sit with her, to be her friend and mentor.  They were an important part of her life and were able to reach and teach her in ways that I could not.

These angels can take many forms and can be in our child's life for a short or long time.  They can be a friend, teacher, family member or someone who just passes through.  Whoever they are and however long they stay in our child's life, they seem to appear when their presence is required and stay until they are no longer needed.  But their participation is very important and they often have important lessons to help our children through, things that we, as their parents, cannot help them with.  I find it interesting that many Indigos are among the new generation of school teachers and they will be 'angel sitting' for the Indigos and Crystals who are in their classrooms.  As we work through the difficult periods with our children, we should know that we have help and we are not going through it alone; neither are our children for angels appear in their lives just when they need them and remind them of who they are and what they have come here for.
